MRS JESCA NSUBUGA

A seasoned leader, counsellor and social work expert with more than 35 years of experience leading and implementing programs and services related to HIV, safe motherhood, malaria, reproductive health, child and newborn health, nutrition, family planning policies and programs, as well as promoting policy dialogue and advocacy for policy reform; Mrs. Jesca brings enormous qualities and wealth of knowledge to the board of Joy Makers Charity Foundation.

She has served in leadership roles for causes that support hunger, poverty, children’s health and well-being, bridge building, education and community development, among others. She has served as Manager Personnel Sugar Corporation of Uganda Limited (SCOUL) and as Hospital Administrator Kakira Sugar Works, the largest manufacturer of sugar in Uganda.

As a leader in the nonprofit sector, specializing in management, strategic planning, development and communication, Mrs. Jesca spent a decade as a Counselor/Community Trainer at the AIDS Support Organization (TASO), a pioneer non-public actor in the HIV and AIDS response in Uganda.

She has two decades of experience working on gender issues, including girls’ education, women’s economic empowerment, health and leadership. She has worked at the intersections of gender inequity, gender-based violence, child care and protection with a passion for helping the most marginalized. She consequently worked as the Volunteer Human Resource Manager Kyetume Child community, a non-profit faith-based organization and as Project manager Najja Child Centered Development Project under the Mukono Anglican Church Diocese. 

Mrs Jesca holds a masters in Counselling Psychology, Uganda Christian University, a bachelor of Social Sciences, Makerere University, a Diploma in project planning and management, Diploma in Human Resource Management, Certificate in prevention of mother to child transmission of HIV, The Mildmay Centre and Centre for Disease Control, Certificate in positive prevention, M.O.H and CDC, Certificate in Training of Trainers in community HIV care, TASO Uganda.
